Ian is the founder of Sharping Law and a licensed Illinois attorney. After years spent teaching legal studies and working in public service, Ian founded Sharping Law to focus on what matters most to families: protecting what they’ve built and the people they love.
Ian brings a teacher’s clarity to estate planning, a subject that often feels overwhelming. His background in both law and education means clients leave every conversation understanding their plan, knowing why each piece matters, and feeling confident in their decisions.
Ian lives in Des Plaines with his wife and three sons. When he’s not working with clients, he’s coaching his son’s volleyball team, helping with the baseball team, and volunteering monthly with his family at the Centennial Lion’s Club.
Ian is also active in the broader legal community providing pro bono legal services through the Chicago Bar Foundation and the Wills for Heroes program, and previously serving as President of the Board of Directors for FALA Chicago.
